Mesfin is a PhD graduate from the University of British Columbia, Canada, a MSc graduate from Lincoln University, New Zealand, and a BSc graduate from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
Mesfin started his postdoctoral career as a research scientist and research molecular plant geneticist at the University of Minnesota and USDA Agricultural Research Service, respectively.
His scientific studies in functional and computational genomics as well as molecular biology of legumes and microsymbionts
resulted in the publication of 23 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals including the Science Journal.
