Mesfin is an accomplished data-driven and results-oriented advanced data analytics leader in leveraging data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning and visualization to drive business insights and strategic decision-making. Currently employed as an assistant vice president of data analytics at the Enterprise Analytics and Customer Experience (EACX) group of the U.S. Bank. Mesfin has led and contributed to scientific and data analytics projects in diverse business sectors and domains including a financial sector, an Agri-Seeds business & basic scientific research for over 15 years. Prior data analytics roles include a data scientist at Syngenta Seeds LLC for 18 months and a principal research analyst at Capella University for 5 years. Mesfin's proficiency in programming and data wrangling into actionable insights using Python, R, SQL, SAS and deomonstrated skills to communicate and publish findings and insights using Tableau and Power BI effectively make him a valuable asset in both basic research and applied analytics settings. He is a SAS certified advanced programmer & SAS certified predictive modeler. Mesfin has published several data science articles in Python and R programming.

Mesfin is a PhD graduate from the University of British Columbia, Canada, a MSc graduate from Lincoln University, New Zealand, and a BSc graduate from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Mesfin started his postdoctoral career as a research scientist and research molecular plant geneticist at the University of Minnesota and USDA Agricultural Research Service, respectively. His scientific studies in functional and computational genomics as well as molecular biology of legumes and microsymbionts resulted in the publication of 23 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals including the Science Journal.
